First of all, the plant does not belong under the classification of a schedule 1 drug. The plant's leaves, which are consumed by chewing them, or mixing it in water after drying it, has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years by natives of Southeast Asia without adversd effects. Even here, when it's consumed in it's pure state, there have been no documented deaths from it. One of the most recent safety studies that came out even confirmed there were only 2 people in the study who had 12 grams, which is not even a normal amount, had nausea and some vommiting. That's similar to if someone tries ingesting a bunch of cinnamon powder at once. Only 2 people had that much at once, which isn't even a normal amount that people typically consume to have a desired effect whether that be treating pain, decreasing inflammation, improving energy and mood, etc. It in fact does reduce inflammation and help take the edge off of pain. I used it myself while recovering from a bike accident and had terrible road rash. Kratom helped me feel like I could still function by decreasing pain and also managing the inflammation. Otherwise, my quality of living would have been worse. My mom has also been using it to help improve her quality of living so she can still exercise while dealing with a tear in the fascia under her foot in combination with plantar fasciatis. She would be limited otherwise and further making her depressed. It's improved her life for the better! To ban kratom is ignoring all the good that it's helped people and all the science and facts that prove it's really not what some parties of interest want you to think and do. Big pharma wants it banned because of the money. We all know that's true. If you ban kratom, then you're full of it, because there's tons of drugs on the shelves at the local pharmacy that are far worse and can cause death if misuses. If you ban kratom, you better ban caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, etc. If a person has a gram of caffeine, they're increasing the chance of a heart attack, increased blood pressure, etc. Making kratom a schedule 1 drug would cause the public to lose even more trust and respect from the public. You'd also be possibly cutting off people who could benefit from it. If you want to do the right thing - keep kratom protected and legal. Ensure pure kratom is on the shelves and/or let people grow it if they want. Please do the right thing! Thank you!!!
