I do not support any ban on Kratom. This substance has not been classified as dangerous. This is a waste of government resources and will make law biding Kratom users and retailers criminals. Our country has enough problems as it is, and putting energies into banning a substance which a large number of citizens find beneficial is a completely wasted effort. This substance has been on the earth for thousands of years and has been used by human beings for thousands of years. There is no immediate or latent threat whatsoever posed by the availability of this substance. There is no science to back up the “dangerous” claims. There is no epidemic of Kratom overdose. There is no relationship between Kratom users and crime. All research I have been exposed to merely states that “not enough” research has been done on this substance to say it is in fact dangerous or beneficial. Please spend your efforts determining if this substance is in fact dangerous before making the argument that it should be illegal. Empirical data from world wide kratom users clearly shows that it is not dangerous. Any proposed ban on Kratom is based on non-scientific data and attempts to elicit an emotional response. Any “Kratom related” deaths as reported by the CDC claim that additional substances cannot be ruled out. Furthermore, Kratom has only been classified by the CDC as “a cause of death.” However the vast majority of deaths involving Kratom also contain a large number of other dangerous substances such as fentynal, cocaine and heroine. (Known killers.) Please focus on these drugs instead of Kratom. I am fairly confident the victims also had caffeine in their system. Is that going to be banned as well? Do the right thing. Thank you.
