Do not ban kratom

I'd also like to share with you my story about why kratom matters so much to me.
I found kratom at a very desperate time in my life. I was in so much pain and none of the many doctors and/or hospital visits could figure out what was wrong. I was essentially bed-bound. Then I started kratom and it afforded me the ability to get out of bed and be a mom again. It turned out that I had a brain herniation, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, acquired epilepsy, POTS, dysautonomia and myasthenia gravis. My major joints dislocate frequently throughout the day due to my condition. That was about 8 years ago and I still safely take it every day. It has helped me stay on the same very low dose of pain medication for the last 7 years with no need to increase. Most people develop a tolerance and require higher doses, my doctor has asked me if I feel like I need to increase and I do not need to. My bloodwork is always within normal limits, no signs of toxicity or other overt reactions despite being on multiple medications including 2 different medications for epilepsy. In fact, prior to beginning kratom, my liver enzymes were elevated and after I initiated self treatment, they returned the normal limits. If kratom is removed from my life, I, and many other pain patients like me will suffer greatly and will have to rely on higher doses of opioids or some may take extreme measures. I know how low it can get and I refuse to go back there again, my kids need me, please don’t do this to us.
