I support ending menhaden reduction fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. I am concerned that this important species for the entire ecosystem and food chain is being depleted and having a severe adverse impact. As a recreational fisherman who has fished in the lower Potomac, I have certainly noticed the degradation of the last 40 years, which I believe the reduction fishery is a significant contributor. I believe any economic benefit that the reduction fishing has on the economy should be weighed against the huge, but hidden, adverse economic impact it has on the recreational fishing industry.
