As a frequent visitor to the bay it saddens me every year to read about all of the destruction the menhaden nets cause. The fact that there is still indiscriminate netting/capture in 2023 is wild. There has to be a better way, and a better regulated way, for both the industry and the fishery. Stop shallow water purse nets and the indiscriminate capture/killing of the bays fish. Lower the allowable loads taken for the menhaden too. Aside from crabs and mullet, they are the lifeblood of the bay.
