The nets were made to be used in deeper water. They should not be deployed in the Chesapeake Bay. Omega actually also fishes in The Rappahannock up to the Norris bridge which is an even more shallow and fragile eco system. The compromise solution is to fish in the Ocean and to have larger buffer zones from the shore. The ospreys and other wildlife might have a chance if some forage food could make it into the rivers.
