Concern over Restriction of Voting Access

Virginia in the 21st century should be making every effort to expand voting opportunities for the Commonwealth's eligible population, one that is increasingly mobile both nationally and internationally.  I agree with the many thoughtful comments expressing concern over a voter suppression movement that heads backward into the very parts of Virginia history of which we can be least proud.

The Commonwealth should live up to that name; those in responsible positions of authority for the voting system should be accountable for (a) what they are doing to expand a high-quality voting process, (b) what they are doing to make voting easier for new citizens and newly eligible voters who need help entering the system, and (c) what they are doing to provide universal and nonpartisan voter education within the public school system, through the Internet, and via all available media.
