Promote Democracy, Don't Stifle It

The contemplated actions of the Board are anti-democratic and would have the effect of supressing voting, not promoting it. The fear of election fraud, upon which this series of proposed actions is based, has little or no empirical supporting evidence. It is a fiction being cynically used to limit and even supress voting to favor the Republican Party and ts state and local candidates. I urge you to NOT go forward with these discriminatory proposed initiatives. Support the expansion of democracy and promote the act of voting. We already have a crisis in voting, especially in state and local elections, where successful candidates can win office with a minority of the eligible voters. Voter participation in elections should be encouraged, not discouraged by rules such as these. The State of Virginia's shameful ante-bellum past in this regard should not be revisited in the 21st century.
