adoptions

To Whom it may concern,

Religious adoption agencys should be allowed to discern whether a child goes with a gay parent, single parent or unmarried couple and they should have the right to refuse a parent(s) based on religious conviction.  Religious faith is a good thing.  If a religious adoption organization wants to practice it's belief the courts have no right to intervene unless there is a clear case of abuse.  There are plenty of state or private adoption agencies that a gay person or single person could go to to adopt a child.  This is a case of oppression when a Christian agency is told what to do or else be shut down.   Adoption should always be focused on providing parents for children and not children for parents.   The idea of adoption has become twisted and many people have start thinking somehow that they have the right to "get a child if they want one" regardless of anyone elses beliefs or values.  The courts should not become involved in making moral decisions for religious organizations.

Sincerely,

Joanne Chancey
