My husband and I adopted our daughter 16 years ago, when Lutheran Social Services was the only adoption agency in our area that would work with a gay couple. Out of 35 agencies, we had one agency to choose from.
Shes is now a happy, healthy teenager, and on the honor roll at the Catholic School she attends.
Religous affiliation is not a reason to deny an entire segment of society from adoption. If a religous based adoption agency wanted to restrict adoption to inter-racial couples, because race mixing was against their religion - should they be allowed to do that too?
