Faith-based adoption services help many thousands of people annually (children and mothers and adoptive couples). To deny such services shows a grave lack of charity and prudence on the part of the state. At a time when state finances are undergoing such difficulties, any such service which can help the state should be utilized. Further, the state, if this law is passed, would effectively be denying the birth mother a crucial choice in the matter of her child; if the state is in the business of curtailing the liberties of its citizens in matters of this nature, then it ceases to be a commonwealth and begins to be a tyranny.
