Don't undermine existing VA family law

B. The licensee shall prohibit acts of discrimination based on race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation, disability, or family status to:

1. Delay or deny a child's placement; or

2. Deny an individual the opportunity to apply to become a foster or adoptive parent.

Re the above, obviously inclusion of "sexual orientation" as a prohibited criterion for approving prospective foster or adoptive parents allows for qualification of actively homosexual (i.e., "gay" or "lesbian") individuals and couples for these roles.   Insofar as 1) the body of Virginia statutory and common law pertaining to families implicitly or explicitly presupposes marriage to be the ordinary and principal context of parenting, and; 2) Virginia's legal sanction of marrigage is exclusively granted to heterosexual couples; then explicit statutory allowance of homosexual individuals or couples as adoptive or foster parents strongly tends to undermine, if not overtly contradict, existing Virginia family law.
