More Study Needed

In regards to the proposed amount of nutrients that can be applied to golf course turf, it is apparent that more research is necessary.  As stated in previous comments, healthy turf is as good a filter as the bay can get as far as preventing run-off into the waters that all of us in this region use and enjoy.  Most golf course managers have received extensive training in the field and use nutrients in a manner already consistent with best management practicies.  To limit the amount of nitrogen that can be applied to turf so that it is helathy is a mistake.  Please take the time to consult with turf managers and University experts before enacting legislation that could prevent us from growing the grass that WILL filter the nutrients before they reach the bay.  As someone who lives in Tidewater and whose family enjoys the waters around us, I do everything in my power to prevent run-off and pollution, but not being able to grow strong turf will cause larger areas of uncovered soil,  leading to pollution and leaching of nutrients into the waters we are trying to protect.
