I SUPPORT the proposed amendment to 4VAC10-30-170!

Please enact the proposed amendment to 4VAC10-30-170, which allows for the otherwise
lawful carry of firearms and ammunition in state forests!  This amendment brings state
forests into alignment with state parks, national parks, and national forests.

Law abiding citizens should not be prohibited from carrying firearms in a rural and isolated area like a state forest.  If anything, a citizen needs the protection more than on a rural highway or in a town.  If you continue to prevent law abiding citizens from their constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms, you will be continuing the state forest "Gun Free Zone".  And since most law abiding citizens will comply with the law, the only people with firearms in a state forrest will be law enforcement authories and criminals who have no regard for the law anyway!

Don't penalize the law abiding citizen.  If anything increase the penalties to those who cannot lawfully possess a firearm anywhere, including our state forests.

Thank you for your consideration
