Strongly Oppose SB 656

Parents already have the right to review curriculum material, and to opt out of FLE lessons.

Virginia has the fourth best public schools overall in the United States, ranking fourth for quality and third for safety. This bill will have a negative impact on our schools and community. If parents want more choice in how the school is run they can pay for a private school and join their board. Private schools tend to teach what these parents are fighting. Look at the private schools our Governor sends his children too. We have lost what it means to live in a diverse and inclusive community. Remember public schools serve the whole community and not a small minority with a loud voice.  Virginia is a diverse state that is inclusive to all. Let’s not destroy a good thing we have in Virginia. Florida is in a crisis mode with a teacher shortage this coming school year. Is this what we want for Virginia? As a parent I think not. I want trained certified teachers teaching my child.

This bill is straight out of the book 1984, and exactly what Putin would put in place in Russia. This is not Russia.
