I strongly oppose this model policy’s bigoted definition of “sexual content”

I opppose the Model Policies Concerning Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content due to the fact that stories with LGBTQIA+ characters or themes are automatically defined as “sexually explicit” and lumped in with pornography. Age-appropriate LGBTQ+ books contain artful stories and can help queer children and their allies find context, purpose, and humanity. Literature and the arts should be inclusive and should help students see outside the narrow lens of their own experience. Please do NOT censor LGBTQIA+ literature or define it as sexually explicit.
