I wholeheartedly support these critically important model policies in order to protect children from inappropriate sexual content at school and to respect parents’ right to to decide whether their children are exposed to this content. This is a fundamental right of parents to make these decisions. We push for the CHOICE of parents or parents-to-be in areas of life and death, so surely the parents’ rights to choose what content their children are exposed to in tax-payer funded public schools is reasonable and acceptable. This is not a matter of any kind of phobia or discrimination, it’s a matter of limiting our children’s exposure to potentially harmful content and/or images before they are mentally mature enough to receive and process said information in a healthy manner. No one is saying we have to hide our kids under a rock, but certain subject matter is simply not age appropriate and therefore should be limited at the discretion of each child’s parents.
