I strongly oppose this guidance. This guidance is an attempt to shame members of the LGBTQIA+ community. There is nothing sexually explicit about a same sex couple holding hands, but this guidance would prohibit a teacher from reading a story about such a couple without advance notice to parents. Censorship like this is harmful for the teachers who must jump through extra hoops to present inclusive material and to students who have family members or who are themselves members of the LGBTQ community.
