I support our teachers to teach history and literature, which often entails teaching hard topics. I support our counselors & social workers to have sometimes difficult  discussions with students. I support students who may be afraid of their parents but want to talk to a trusted adult. I’m horrified by the right-wing effort to force our schools to cater to a limit minority of parents who would be afraid, for example, to have their kids learn about the treatment of women in war, acts perpetrated against people during, e.g., slavery in America, the Armenian genocide, the Holocaust or during the Islamic State. I support our children reading novels like Beloved in AP English.
