Serving as school counselor in private, public, and international schools for over 40 years, I have witnessed the derogatory consequences of inappropriately addressing sexuality with young children.
Morals and values have declined over the years and unfortunately, our schools are vulnerable to immoral and unbiblical values being taught to our public school students by some teachers who do not share parents' values. Schools should teach academics (reading, writing, math, science, social studies) in factual ways at appropriate grade levels. American public school students have lost ground in worldwide academic standing. More time should be spent on academics rather than encouraging promiscuity, abnormal behavior and focusing on skin color! MLK was right!
Students should learn not to lie, cheat or steal and to dress modestly, treat others lovingly and respectfully, work hard to achieve, and accept personal responsibility. Sexuality is an issue for parents and churches to address, teaching children according to the Judeo Christian values upon which this country was built. Abstinence until marriage would help prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
"Family Life" (sex education) in the schools encourages kids to focus on sex more than other developmental and educational tasks. I have regularly seen students' focus shift when "sex ed" is taught. If fosters more inappropriate sexual behavior, sex abuse, girls especially thinking that not having attention from the opposite sex means they should become "trans" when that is not the case. Teachers are told to answer any and all student questions so this opens the door for their values, not written in the curriculum, to be taught. These topics should be left to parents and faith communities who have the responsibility to instill sex and family values!
Please get our schools back on track!
