Oppose censoring in SBS 656

The definition of “sexually explicit” in Virginia’s law is so broad and vague that it could include books by LGBTQ+ authors and about LGBTQ+ experiences. This bill eliminates the  freedom of educators who are trained to teach students about complex concepts and subjects, and keeps students from being exposed to diverse viewpoints and stories. This new law will discourage open discourse in a learning environment, hampering students’ ability to consider differing perspectives.  Please don’t limit our children the opportunity to learn and threaten our invaluable teachers.  Students need opportunity to learn and this vague definition of sexually explicit may prohibit our young from learning and exploring certain valuable topics.
