Life lessons

I am opposed to SB656 due to the fact that it is unnecessary and potentially harmful.  Parents already have a mechanism to ask teachers to substitute assigned reading if they  find it objectionable .  As a parent, I was happy to know that my children were being thoughtfully exposed to different ideas and lives  than just their own, especially under the guidance of trained professionals. If another parent wishes to deprive their child of that opportunity, they already have a way to do so that does not limit and punish their classmates.  The bill is too intrusive and subject to abuse by parents attempting to impose their own religious views on everyone. It also adds an unnecessary burden on our hard working and unappreciated teachers and librarians. Children need the chance to learn real  life lessons that demonstrate all lives.
