My children should not be exposed to explicit content through their education in public schools. As a tax payer and the parent I should have the right to review and consent to material being taught in the classroom that may be deemed explicit content. I can then make the decision as their parent on whether or not I want them to learn this in the classroom or it is an at home family discussion. Each family has different views and beliefs. This bill does not stop the material from being taught in the classroom it simply allows the parent to view it and decide if they want their children to learn about it in the classroom. This should also be applied to books in the library. I do not want to take the books out of the library but I would like them properly labeled and as the parent I would like the decision on whether or not my child can read it, especially at the lower level schools.
