This is a bad bill

I would like my child to be able to access a very wide variety of literature in a public school library. We do not need to ban books like Nazis. The wording is this bill is broad and could very unfairly cause books with LGBTQ content or books about Black or Indigenous people to be banned. It's very important for children to see themselves reflected in books. Books with LGBTQ content can literally save lives.

I am Bi. I have been Bi my whole life. I have been suicidal because of Bi erasure in our society. Coming out as Bi when I was in my twenties really helped me to be a better person and to live a better and more ethical life. I attended Virginia public schools and I wish I had found more bisexual or even lesbian representation in books in the library. It would have helped me as a kid. My child (who is not yet old enough for kindergarten) will probably attend Virginia public schools and I would like my child to be able to access a wide variety of books in their school libraries.

I hate this current trend of trying to ban books in Virginia schools.
