Guidance Document Change: The guidance document "Model Policies Concerning Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content" was developed in conjunction with stakeholders in order to comply with SB656 (2022).

VA education cannot function in a manner that is inconsistent with the law when it comes to the involvement of parents in their children’s education. Parents should be notified of any sexually explicit material being used for instruction and offered alternatives. There must be transparency and accountability in the relationship between educators and parents.
