Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

Teachers are Not Therapists

Teachers already have a plethora of rules and statutes they have to follow while teaching children.  Virginia does not pay these teachers enough as it is and they want to throw another requirement onto their plate? This will make teaching impossible and fully thrust our schools into being aptly labelled as indoctrination facilities. The teachers will be so worried about not offending anyone that it will be impossible to do what they are hired to do: teach our kids how to learn and NOT what to think.
