When the current Governor, Bob McDonnell, was the Attorney General, he published an opinion that State Parks and other such state agencies did not have the power to ban openly carried handguns. I agree and want open carry to be legal in State Forests.
Virginia, as you know, supports open carry by all citizens who are not felons or otherwise legally proscribed from carrying weapons. I see no reason that state parks or forests should be any more "off limits" with respect to lawful carry than any other portion of the state.
