The petition in question, called "Vaccination Requirements for School Employees and Students" or simply referred to Petition 352, was filed with the State Board of Health on September 1st, and calls on members to vote to institute a vaccine mandate for all public and private school employees and students whose respective age group(s) have been approved by the FDA.
While the text of Petition 352 is only three paragraphs in length, its content is entirely contradictory.
While the petition claims that unvaccinated students and employees would put other children at risk, the scientifically-supported facts are that: (1) the vaccines are not yet approved by the FDA for children under the age of 12, so in elementary schools, all students would be unvaccinated regardless; and, (2) if the vaccination actually worked -- if it actually immunized recipients from Covid-19 -- they should not be able to contract the virus in the first place!
It also fails to account for the statistical reality that young, school-age children have been among the least affected populations in terms of Covid-19 and its transmission, minimizing the rationale for increased intrusive measures to protect students from a virus which has proven far less harmful in its effects on them in the first place.
This poorly thought-out, completely inconsistent petition defeats its own argument by indirectly admitting that, no, the Covid-19 vaccines are not effective at preventing the spread of the virus.
It even specifies that the only exemptions made should be for medical purposes -- without any mention of religious, ethical, or simply personal objections -- and refers to those who have chosen against getting the vaccine, or are opposed to such mandates, the "irrational minority." It is purely rational, considering the latest science.
This is not only bad public policy -- it is all emotion, no logic, and the State Board of Health should be embarrassed to even consider it for approval.
Virginia's students -- our children -- are not lab rats, and no parent should be forced to vaccinate them for Covid-19 against their will. All objections -- be they medical, faith-based, ethical, or simply personal -- must be protected for everyone, including students and teachers, and this petition will remove this most basic of protections here in the Old Dominion.
Petition 352 is an incoherent, inconsiderate, and completely illogical proposal, and the State Board of Health should recognize it for its flaws and prevent it from moving forward.
This is not a dictatorship. If an individual elects not to be vaccinated (their "Constitutional RIGHT"), then they are assuming the 'risk' of infection.
You should also understand that once you dictate a requirement for vaccinations, you are assuming the corporate (and potentially personal) legal liability for everyone who has a harmful or tragic reaction to the vaccine, especially due to the science that supports 'natural immunity is 27 times more effective than vaccination'. [See the following article: https://www.westernjournal.com/johns-hopkins-doc-says-natural-immunity-27-times-effective-vaccine/]. You would be well advised to publicly state your rejection of this potentially catastrophic Petition.
