Patients should never be put in the position to self diagnosis an emergency vs not, that's not their job, it's ours as Emergency Medicine Physicians.  When they do have emergencies we are there to take care of them no matter what, per our oath and EMTALA.  If this program passes the funding for hospitals will decrease causing a trickle down effect to less ED staff and longer wait times negatively impacted ALL patients.  Don't inhibit us from helping patients!!
