Agencies struggling to comply

So far, EVV has had a huge negative impact on small agencies. It's costly, the GPS is inaccurate and has been a very burdensome process. For our folks who live in more rural areas, the location doesn't always get picked up and when it does, it usually says they're miles and miles away when the caregiver is standing right in the patient's home. The patient's can't help where they live and also can't help if they have no internet or landline phones. DMAS states providers won't get reimbursed unless the location is there, but haven't been very clear on how to handle situations like the one above. We are simply trying to provide the best service possible to the folks who want to remain out in the community-even in the very rural areas. The least DMAS could do is to file for an extension so these types of situations can have concrete solutions.
