I installed 7,500 W of rooftop solar on my home in Nelson County in 2015.  This investment has reduced my monthly electric bill down to just the base service fees ($30/month), and has provided my family with a source of emergency backup power during outages.

Small scale distributed electrical power such as this also makes the grid more resilient and reduces the need for fossil fuel consumption by power plants.
