TRAP laws are designed to shut down women's clinics by forcing clinics to undergo major renovations that have little if anything to do with the safety of women. Virginia's clinics already have oversight throught the DOH and any violations or infractions are immediately addressed. Women's clinics provide preventative care to women who do not have access to health care, students, and women whose income is below the poverty level. Please amend the current regulations. Women in Virginia need access to care. Our state has already denied health care to hundreds of thousands by not expanding Medicare...why would we also deny basic reproductive and preventative care to women in Virginia? These regulations do not make women safer, if anything they put more women at risk.
