TRAP regulations should be based on medicine, not ideology

The current TRAP regulations are burdensome and medically unnecessary.  They were designed to limit women's access to safe and legal abortions.  These regulations will lead to the closure of women’s health centers, restricting access not only to abortion but also to the comprehensive health care these centers provide, including cancer screenings and birth control.  They will have an especially negative impact on the poorest women, who need these services the most.  I urge the Commissioner and Board of Health to rewrite these restrictions so that they rely on evidence-based medicine. Regulatory action should be based on sound principles of public health and sound scientific data and not ideology or politics.
