The opposite of "valid" is "void". No voided document is acceptable as a means of effecting a legally binding transaction or of establishing a person's legal identity. A voided passport is not accepted by U.S. Customs officers for international passage. A voided, or expired, professional license or certification prohibits the holder from engaging in the profession or activity authorized by the license. A valid document, to be universally acceptable, must be in force between its issue and expiration dates, and must contain the most current identifying information of its holder, including a headshot photo of the exact likeness of the holder.
