SUPPORT Amendment & a Parent's Right To Choose

As a mom of four children, I strongly support the BOE's amendment to the regulation.  It is very reasonable for concerned parents to request advanced parental notification and opt out options for their children regarding subject matter that may conflict with their own family values.  Inappropriate subject matter in a classroom setting is both offensive and embarrassing to our children.  As custodians of our children during the school day, teachers are to protect our children, not exploit them.  The question is really WHY do teachers want books with sexual content, implied or explicit, required reading?  What educational value does it have, or whose agenda does it serve?
