I oppose TRAP because the architectural requirements in these regulations are specifically designed to shut down as many abortion clinics in the state as possible. Mississippi has done it. They soon will have no clinics, not a single one, for a woman to get a safe, legal abortion. As a person with a uterus I find that truly scary. This is what TRAP is about - shutting down clinics and thus, shutting down abortion, in the state of Virginia. Taking away women's power to decide what is best for them and what is best for their families. It is not about women's safety. If it was, then the architectural requirements would be grandfathered-in so that these clinics could stay open and accessible to women in Virginia so that they can get SAFE abortions. Can we just use our common sense here? What good are the other requirements (that DO have to do with patient safety) if there are no clinics for them to be implemented? I want the Board of Health to do what is right for the health and safety of women. AMEND AGAIN - GRANDFATHER IN.
