Action | Regulations for Licensure of Abortion Facilities |

The Targeted Regulations for Abortion Providers proposed in Senate Bill 924 are unnecessary and wasteful. I urge the Board of Health to do everything in its power to prevent the regulations from becoming final. Decisions should not be coerced by intimidating state officials as is the case with the pressure exerted by Attorney General Cuccinelli on this issue. Instead decisions should be based on fact and the fundamental fact here is that current first term abortions are performed safely in existing facilities and do not require changes that would mimic hospital level facility requirements. The changes represent an underhanded attack on women's health care cloaked under the rubric of improving safety.
