Well, it is obvious that no employee of DMAS has never had to call CDCN customer service to correct an enrollment issue of one of their family members. If so, this idea to add this critical part of developing a Plan of Care and Broker Services for a Long Term Care patient under CDCN's umbrella would never happen. CDCN's only task years ago when they were brought on board to do Financial Services for this program, was to do that very thing...Financial Services. It has now been years later, and they still struggle to do their primary task DMAS contracted them for years ago...Financial Services.
Many of these Service Facilitators, not all, would take the enrollment issues of their member and do the leg work to get things corrected at the FEA's...Instead of the member having to find the correct language just to speak on enrollment issues with customer service.
I would say, In 10 years from now when CDCN masters the task of getting the caregivers enrolled properly and getting the caregivers paid on time, then maybe allow them the opportunity to attempt something like this with the Long Term Care member.
This Service Facilitation issue popped up years ago when a DMAS intern found a considerable amount of overbilling Medicaid in the Service facilitation space...and wrote a paper on it. I guess the suits were impressed and decided something had to be done. Turns out, over 50 % of the overbillings found were traced back to one large Service Facilitation firm.
Horrible thought process DMAS.
