I support this petition for the temporary moratorium for the reduction fishery of Menhaden by purse seine  technique in the Chesapeake Bay.
I have personally witnessed the dramatic reduction in the appearance of menhaden  and striped bass in the Bay to the point that I did not see a single school of striped bass feeding on the surface on a menhaden school  this entire year of fishing and boating. This cannot be normal. Striped bass are at a historically, low number and their primary food forage is menhaden, which is being aggressively overfished. Please grant the above stated petition.

The current reduction fishery out of Reedville VA can continue to fish outside of the Chesapeake Bay so that this moratorium will not close down the fishery.  It will just limit its location to outside the Bay.
