The petitioners frequently misrepresent fact and regulation, cite studies that are nonconclusive as to cause, and rely more on social media hype than the science that has led the current quotas.  The establishment of Atlantic and Bay quotas were developed with best available science for decades. As the best available science matured quotas have been amended.  This is the system that works and should continue to work.  A complete moratorium in purse seine fishing BEFORE science indicates there is that need, if ever, is reckless and irresponsible. Federal and State agencies have applied science for the basis of recommended changes and should continue to do so. 

Absolutely oppose this petition and recommend VMRC reject it.
