As the body responsible for regulating safety of medical procedures for women among others, I remind you that:
the proposed regulations threaten the continued availability of LEGAL, SAFE first-trimester abortions AND
extensive, burdensome regulations for clinic buildings that have no relation to the services the clinics provide and have no proven health benefit will limit or eliminate patient access to health care AND
these regulations increase the hurdles women face to obtaining health care to which they are entitled, while affording women no proven medical benefit AND
they are not grounded in evidence-based medical practices AND
they further marginalize young, low-income, uninsured and minority women --decreasing their health care options.
As responsible professional health care regulators, I hope you will take these consequences into consideration before adopting the draconian provisions of legislation currently proposed.
Sincerely,
Miriam Riner
