Women's Health Care

I fully understand the gravity of the issue of abortion.  I am not for killing babies.  But I am not willing to allow women's freedom to make their own choices based on their individual circumstances to be pushed aside.

Abortion is a tough decision to make and people have their set beliefs, calling it murder and baby-killing, but there is no proof whatsoever that the souls of people are attached to the bodies of zygots and embryos.  Furthermore, we cannot legislate religious beliefs on general society.

My religious belief is that the soul does not even visit the unborn body until well into the pregnancy, much farther than is the standard for abortions to be performed.  As such, the soul is completely unharmed, it just waits for another appropriate body to be ready.  Some people may read this and it may go against their own religious belief.  That is okay.  That is why freedom of religion is an important right, that we each may find our path to God in whatever way God has led us to do so.  But the choice of abortion is one that must be made between the woman who must bear the consequences and her relationship with God.

And no, my God is no different than anyone else's God.  How dare we assume that we know more than our creator?  We MUST focus on getting rid of incest, rape, deadbeat dads, poverty, and a lack of educational opportunities and support for single mothers before we can even consider the issue of abortion.

I do not presume to tell any man that he must not remove a tumor from his body and at the level of zygote and embryo, a baby is little more than a collection of cells with potential for more.  No one should tell me - or anyone else - what they can or cannot allow with their own bodies.  We must keep women's health care options safe and available.  Abortion will not go away.  It will just start killing women again if it is made unavailable in our healthcare system.  Keep women's healthcare safe.
