We need to stay in RGGI

We all say we want a clean energy future, so we need to act on that and move quickly toward it; leaving the RGGI is a terrible idea for a number of reasons:

  1. It's currently making the state money.
  2. It improves our air quality, which means it's improving our health. This is a big deal since most of our energy in this reason generates pollution. Everyone likes clean air, and cleaner air lowers health costs for everyone. It may even improve the educational outcomes for children living in high pollution areas, or who are at risk for respiratory disease. Smart kids get those tech jobs we want to keep in state.
  3. I want VA to be a leader in bipartisan solutions. Clean air isn't political. Clean energy isn't political. Both are wins for everyone. Let's show everyone else how it's done, not make this into some kind of political battle.
  4. I'm really worried about severe weather and flooding, and what kind of world my preschooler will inhabit in adulthood. Will my grandkids know what snow is? It barely snowed at all this year, and lots of places are getting flooded, and the weather is really weird. Let's be proactive, not wait until it's too late.
