I strongly oppose the proposal to have Virginia withdraw from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.  This program has been effective and is one of the few concrete initiatives for the state government to address the climate change crisis which is already impacting our communities.  It is evident that the warming climate is causing sea level rise and gliding in many coastal and riverine communities. We must invest now and take concerted action to reverse current trends and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to prevent even worse problems down the line.  The costs of inaction now will have dramatic consequences in the future for our children and grandchildren.  Please act in ways that are morally, ethically and economically sound, and in keeping with scientific evidence. This is not an issue that should be politicized.
