RGGI protects all Virginians

RGGI protects all Virginians.   It lowers the emissions that damage our health and destroy the environment that gives us life.  Not only that, it provides income to the state treasury.  It encourages the use of alternatives to fossil fuels.   All of these are absolutely good and beneficial to all.

RGGI was passed by both houses of the state legislature, and the proposed overturn by the executive branch is a denial of the will of the elected representatives of the people.

The UN Secretary General's report on the environment, released this week, repeats what we have known for decades:   that time has run out for the environment.  If we act now, we will still have another decade of dealing the flooding, storms, and drought that bring damage and destruction to all, and this includes farmers, fishermen and other residents of coastal Virginia.  Can anyone doubt the photos of Virginia homes being washed into the sea this year?  Can we doubt the presence of salt water in eastern Virginia farmland?

How can you consider a cancelling a plan that would address the problems that we face?

Sincerely,

Alice H Foltz,  Centreville VA
