Keep Virginia in RGGI!

Dear Members of the Air Pollution Control Board,

I am writing to urge you to vote to keep Virginia in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. RGGI is an essential climate action program that protects Virginia’s air quality by reducing the burning of fossil fuels, reduces the greenhouse gas emissions of our community, protecting communities including my own from the impacts of climate change, all while earning Virginia millions in funding through our participation. RGGI is the largest and most essential funding source for the Community Flood Preparedness Fund.

Virginians collectively compelled the general assembly to enter RGGI, and this program is codified in law. By your oath of office, you have a legal, moral, and ethical responsibility to Virginians who are relying on you to make decisions to protect air and environmental quality.

Climate change is real. It is human caused. And the detrimental effects of climate change are already being felt by my community in Richmond, and communities across the Commonwealth.

Please vote to stay in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

Best,

Peter Braun
