RGGI limits carbon pollution from our power sector, and it also generates revenue that funds several climate-related programs in Virginia. For example, it funds flood resilience efforts in Virginia. It seems to me this makes perfect economic sense (creating a safety net for those in our state that are most vulnerable to the impacts of severe storms exacerbated by climate change), while also protecting the environment AND those that are vulnerable in our communities from air pollutants (which also makes economic sense because preventative measures keep people out of hospitals). It's all hands on deck right now to limit the impacts of climate change. Virginia needs to be a leader, not a laggard.
