It is alarming that proposals are being made to force religious organizations to violate their consciences and their sacred writings. In general, the religious community, as opposed to the secular, should be the most tolerant, loving, balanced, and nurturing of all, for their motivation should be not only for the common good, but for servng an even high good, guided by the lofty precepts of sacred writings and tradition. Though that is not inveitable, it is generally true. The truly religious feel accountable to God Himself.
If such community is forced to choose between conscience and service, many will be forced out of the system to the detriment of the system and the children they would serve.
