Commenter: Some conservatives child

Oppose: Hiding things won’t make it go away

Let kids and teens be exposed to queer content, let them learn compassion to themselves and others. If a kid is old enough to start saying homophobic slurs, they are old enough to learn what they mean and the consequences of them. Hiding children from content only breeds and hate and ignorance. Teach children about the people around them and let them know it’s ok to be themselves.

Everyone deserves a chance to be reflected in their curriculum and surroundings. Removing LGBTQ content from schools won’t prevent LGBTQ people from existing, it only will delay them coming out or self acceptance. The best way to make sure your child isn’t “faking” is support, hiding them from content that affirms them will only fuel the fire inside.
