The Profession of Landscape Architecture should definitely continue to be licensed and regulated because Landscape Architects , myself included, often lead or are involved in projects that affect public safety and welfare such as
---planning large scale projects such as large campuses, urban districts, land holdings, and parks that affect human welfare and safety, determine environmental issues, and coordinate with watersheds of scale.
--- grading and drainage plans that impact watersheds and mitigate local flooding and erosion.
--- vehicular and pedestrian routes (including service and fire routes and taking into vehicular account sight-line issues )
--- Public and institutional spaces that must meet requirements for public safety and policing .
---Paved Spaces and ramps that require safe passage and ADA compliant design
---Outdoor structures such as pavilions and walls that require sound design.
--Lighting plans for safe passage at night .
